A Walk Down Memory Lane at SNP
Scoil Naomh Pádraig – or St. Patrick’s, as I knew it as a little girl, was the setting of my own primary schooling. Walking through the doors as principal in 2019 immediately brought me back to the happy years that I had spent here as a child. Fond memories came flooding back, and I was struck by the way it still felt the same. What I now know as the ‘culture’ of the school was, and still is, that of warmth, happiness, kindness and the feeling that the people around you care deeply about you. As a child I knew that my teachers and principal wanted the best for me and my classmates. This feeling remains.
My Educational Philosophy
Our Core Values
For me personally, I strive to live and work by some core values – namely, kindness and respect towards others, contributing to my community, inclusion, and doing my very best. It is a special thing to know that these values are shared by the SNP community, as I see them in action all around me.
It Takes a Village: Collaborative Leadership
My leadership style is that of collaboration. I know that I am surrounded by teams of people who bring value and insights that I alone cannot. These teams include staff, pupils, parents, the Board of Management, our leadership team, outside agencies and members of the community.
We work together to share our understanding and our learning, and we are stronger teams for that. My aim is to lead our school community to enable us to work together to achieve our shared goals, which we review regularly. This is enabled by our strong commitment to our work, our continued professional development and with the support of our Board of Management.
